Bo Bichette signs with the New York Mets

One of the top free agents on the market, former Blue Jay Bo Bichette, has signed a 3-year, $126 million contract with the New York Mets.

After losing out on free agent slugger Kyle Tucker to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the loss of Bichette leaves the Blue Jays with a significant void in their starting lineup. During his time in Toronto, Bichette was a 2x All-Star and led the American League in hits twice, most recently in 2022.

With the signing of Kazuma Okamoto earlier this month, I would expect him to spend the most time at third base, with Andres Gimenez and Ernie Clement playing up the middle and plugging the hole left by Bichette's departure. While the loss of Bichette will certainly hurt the Toronto offensively, Gimenez and Clement would make for one of the game's top defensive double play partners, something the Blue Jays have been missing out on due to Bichette's subpar defense.

Good luck to Bo in Queens, and thank you for all the memories in Toronto — especially the Game 7 home run!
